Certification Paths

WiFiCert currently offers three certification levels: Verified, Guaranteed and Trusted.

The exact assessment requirements may vary depending on the certification level selected. However, all certification paths follow the same core principles of evidence collection, analysis and independent review.

Application  →  Assessment  →  Analysis  →  Findings  →  Certification  →  Certificate & Badge
1

Application

Submit your application and provide basic information about your venue, network environment and desired certification level.

2

Assessment

Measurements and evidence are collected using the WiFiCert methodology. Depending on the certification path, this may be performed by the venue, a WiFiCert Partner or an authorised assessor.

3

Analysis

The collected data is reviewed and analysed against the relevant WiFiCert certification requirements.

4

Findings Report

A findings report is produced summarising observations, strengths and potential areas for improvement.

5

Improvement Plan (If Required)

If certification requirements are not met, improvement recommendations may be provided to help address identified issues.

6

Reassessment

Additional measurements may be collected after improvements have been implemented.

7

Certification Decision

WiFiCert independently reviews the available evidence and determines whether certification requirements have been satisfied.

8

Certificate & Badge

Successful venues receive an official certificate and a digital certification badge.

9

Directory Listing

Certified venues may be listed within the public WiFiCert directory and certificate verification system.

10

Certification Renewal

Certified venues must renew their certification periodically to maintain their certified status. Renewal requirements vary according to the certification level and may include documentation review, updated evidence, verification activities or reassessment where required by the programme.

Understanding the WiFi Certification Process

WiFiCert is designed to provide an independent assessment of real-world WiFi quality. Rather than focusing solely on headline speed test results, the programme evaluates multiple aspects of the user experience, including performance, responsiveness, consistency and reliability.

Depending on the certification level selected, venues may be asked to provide measurements, supporting evidence and additional information about the wireless environment. All evidence is reviewed against published programme requirements before a certification decision is made.

Where improvement opportunities are identified, venues may choose to implement recommendations and request reassessment before certification is granted. This approach helps ensure that certification remains meaningful, transparent and evidence based.
